Superman, Batman and Spider-Man have to be the most unfairly overcriticised, misinterpreted and generally shat upon heroes from the Big Two. I guess that comes with being the most famous/popular you get lots of stones thrown at you too.
But it gets depressing when so any people who don’t know what they are talking about essentially slander them with baseless accusations or miscontextualized bullshit.
People on this Hell site like to say Peter Parker is terrible and irresponsible and his fans apologists.
I don’t think those people are honestly familiar with Spider-Man’s character, are outright misinterpreting things, taking them out of context or else judging him based upon stories where he is out of character, e.g. everything after One More Day.
If fans defend him so much it’s only because he’s subjected to a ridiculous amount of misinformation and misinformed opinions. In fairness he isn’t the only one. I shake my head every time someone calls Superman a fascist or labels Batman as insane.
There are just a lot of misinformed and/or dumb morons on this goddam website.
This has to be said, I don’t care how “late” it is, I don’t give a shit what antis say, but **NO**, “Sins Past” was deliberate character assassination, not with Gwen Stacy’s character *AT ALL*. There was no lead up, no hint before her death. Writers were just pissed Gwen Stacy was missed and decided to write up a cop out to make people glad she died. And even *IF* she “never” slept with Peter, why would Peter think her kids are even his? They were together for *YEARS*, Gwen passionately kissed Peter proclaiming he was the best thing that ever happened to her, that’s not some passing fancy. Peter was even planning on marrying her one day, that’s not just puppy love.
