I hate that some idiots confuse Ultimate Spider-Man relationship with Black Cat as how it actually played out in canon. First of all, there was never a big age gap between them in 616. Second, Felicia’s rejection of Peter’s normal life was an intriguing aspect bought to the table that other Spider-Man love interests didn’t have and not because he was a teen. And finally, even by alternative universe standards, that age revelation was dumb. Because even earlier, Peter considered giving Black Cat a go since him and MJ are on a break. Like why would someone who’s more mature for his age than his peers think that? Felicia admittedly believed that he was a man and nautually, showed an interest in him. So Peter could’ve easily just stopped her from unmasking him and they could’ve had Peter and her just be friends or bring back her later when he was older? What do they do? Give us the most cringeworthy gig that’s now spammed on every social media site. And hardly any good tender moments from 616 Peter and Felicia are even remembered or shown. Just that stupid gig that’s not even funny anymore.
‘Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse’ was STUNNING, and possibly my new favorite movie of all time. It really showcased the possibilities of what a visual medium like animation can do that others can’t, and demonstrated the difference between a ‘superhero movie’ and a ‘comic book movie’ while being both at once. I think it revolutionized what the ‘infinite canvas’ could look like (sorry Scott McCloud, but your examples have been… weak) and I really hope it encourages other creators to push the potential of what entertainment and art can do! I left the theater more inspired to get back into storytelling than I’ve felt in years.
