I was a huge fan of comic book Sharon Carter…

I was a huge fan of comic book Sharon Carter. When TWS came out I wasn’t thrilled with how little she was used, but still had hope. Then CW happened. Then, Sharon helped Steve without any real explanation as to why, puckered up and disappeared in 20 mins. Marvel didn’t give her any real screen time or any characterization. Marvel reduced her to plot exposition. Marvel used her as a no-homo to counter a gay ship.

They made this awesome character nothing but a love interest. (A female character can be more than that, but Sharon sure as hell wasn’t.) When I go online to commiserate with my fellow Sharon fans about how badly she was used though, I get ripped apart because I refused to try and make it seem like her shit part in the movie mattered. I was attacked by my own fandom for calling out what every movie goer and reviewers saw:

a female character thrown into a badly done romance tacked on to a funeral (beyond inappropriate) because she had to kiss the gay away. I can’t stand the sight of Sharon in the MCU or the comics anymore because so many Sharon fans ripped into me for refusing to be “positive” and pretend that Sharon’s role mattered in the MCU. It didn’t. Marvel did her wrong, but it was Sharon Carter fans blind efforts to make her seem better than she was at all cost that ruined her.

What’s troubling about the Sharon Carter dia…

What’s troubling about the Sharon Carter dialogue is how supposed feminist are missing the point of the argument against her. People aren’t upset by what she did in CW. Sharon is hated because of why she did it. Yes, she helped Steve – told him where Bucky was, got his gear back, etc. No one who speaks against Sharon is disputing what she did in canon. The problem people have with her is why she did it. In canon, Sharon only helped Steve because she was sexually interested in him.

That’s the only motivation she shows on screen in canon. And if the deleted scenes had stayed in, it would have been even more explicitly stated that Sharon’s only interest in helping Steve was because she was attracted to his Captain America persona. What Sharon did in the movie and the fact that Steve kissed her aren’t why Sharon is so broadly hated by woke women.

It’s offense to have a character whose sole motivation for their actions on screen is interest in a man, especially in this case where the female character committed treason over her interest in that man. So many people have a problem with Sharon because of her motivation in CW, not her actions. And they frankly should because what her actions were in the movie were overshadowed by the why. The why she did what she did is why so many people rightly hate and criticize Sharon Carter.

Peggy would not support Steve and Sharon being…

Peggy would not support Steve and Sharon being together. She wouldn't want him to be alone and miserable just because she is dead. But since Peggy is a decent human being, her moral compass would have no problem seeing that Steve deserves a relationship with someone that isn't shy of incest. And that Sharon deserves a relationship with someone besides Steve, who is only interested in Sharon because of her connection to Peggy.

Okay…I hate to be ‘That’ person, but…how the hell is Sharon and Steve incest? Maybe next time send this in the form of a confession and not like a response to a confession you disagree with.
