Maybe I’m the only one, but while I used to love MCU movies, they feel really artificial and sterilized compared to other movies now. They’re very “paint by numbers”. You have a few “badass shots” like the turntable shot in Avengers and the Europe slow-motion in AOU, then for the story, it’s always the same “brooding villain who’s either been wronged or wants to change the world”, over and over again. It wasn’t too noticeable in phase one because there were less movies, but now it is.

Banner is a super genius don’t get me wrong, and I’m sure Hulk fans can find evidence of his knowledge of time travel and such but as far as I know MCU never specified Tony’s qualifications. Which means I have to defer Tony’s qualifications to the comics, and those are far more than just being a mechanic. He has advanced degrees in Physics including specific degrees in Quantum Physics. Plus computer science, chemistry, biology, and then some. Also in the comics Tony never had his PhD until Banner tried to lord it over him and then went and got it just to spite Banner. I get MCU is different but MCU also basically said Tony is a savant by having him become an /expert/ in Bruce’s specialty field (i.g thermodynamics – Avengers) overnight. Not to mention that has always been Tony and Bruce’s dynamic anyway. Bruce’s specialty is in the theoretical. Tony’s specialty has always been in the practical. It’s part of what makes them a great team. Also keep in mind Endgame only had so much time to work with. It’s not perfect and there’s definitely issues but given it is a movie that wraps up a 10 year arc that starts and ends with Tony Stark it makes sense that Tony has preferential treatment. I get that I’m bias because Tony is my favorite character but to harp on something that makes sense both as a character dynamic and a story telling method shows the fan bias for Bruce. (Side note: my favorite comic panel(s) for the Bruce vs Tony is when Bruce says he’s smarter than Tony and Tony walks off looks at himself in the mirror and goes “yeah well at least I’m richer” xD)

Literally everything that’s good and interesting about Miles in Spider-verse is from the movie itself. Him being an artist and having an actual reason for not wanting to go to private school? Having a closer relationship with his uncle instead of his dad because he goes out of his way to foster his creativity? All that shit is from the movie and not the comics. People bitch about how MCU Peter stole from Miles comic material but not only are the things lifted on the more superficial side of things, the MCU taking from Miles story is the only reason we finally got an actual interesting version of Miles from Sony to begin with. They couldn’t rely on ganke and a different school setting. They had to push themselves to do better. For year Miles was just a less interesting Peter who happened to be black/latino and there was nothing actually unique or interesting about him. The MCU being lazy actively made Miles better because the movies and comics now function as a feedback loop and we’ll get better Miles in the comics too.
