I feel like the MCU’s take on Spider-Man gets worse in every movie. He was great in Civil War because even though he was a fanboy, he was still very much his own character and has as much agency as the rest of the heroes. He even threatens Tony Stark at one point. After that movie however, he’s slowly regressed into being nothing more than Tony Stark’s sidekick. His so-called “arc” in Homecoming is completely undone by Infinity War when he straight up becomes Iron Man’s sidekick. The Iron Spider suit robs his character of any impact because instead of going “Spider-Man is cool” you’re going “that suit is cool!”. He doesn’t even need it, it’s not helping him breathe in space or anything (mask is constantly off). He also doesn’t say or contribute anything useful unless Tony tells him to (“Aliens” plan for example).
Ok there’s too much negativity going on in this blog and I will admit I might have added to it with a few confessions so I will be saying some positive things to try and make things less depressing and aggressive. After going to free comic book day I’m actually looking forward to what Marvel is doing, Avengers is looking like it going back to form, I am also glad that the writer of Black Panther, Ta-nahisi Coates is now going to be writing Captain America, it seems like he is the most politically knowledgeable writer Marvel has and that is something you need in order to write Captain America. I’ve finally gotten back to the Power Rangers comics just in time for Shatterd Grid and holy shit is it good you can tell that the writers have a respect for the property but they also want to push the franchise forward unlike the show which has kinda degraded a bit over time. I’ve really been enjoy all the movies both Marvle and DC Infinity War and Black Panther just blew me away, and Ant-man and the Wasp looks like it’s going to be fun, I’m sad the Justice League did poorly at the box office I actually did enjoy it even if it did have some problems but after Wonder Woman I don’t think DC is too far off from make this universe work so I am just hoping Flashpoint and Auqaman do good. The game I am looking forward to the most is the new Spider-Man game, it looks like Insomniac is getting pretty much everything right I can’t wait to get this game in my hand, and it makes me so glad that I got a PS4.
