I don’t think movie critics have any objectivity at all. They review movies emotionally as if their subjective take on a film represents the truth absolutely. When they call DCEU movies “failures” or “bombs” or “dumpster fires” they are not only disrespecting the people who made those movies and the fans (who are legion and outnumber Rotten Tomatoes critics 1,000 to 1), they are also just empirically wrong. Man of Steel made $668m on a budget of $225m. BvS made $874m against $300m. Suicide Squad did $747m on a $175m budget. WW did $822m against $149m and JL, which was the lowest grossing of the bunch, took in $656m versus $300m budget. In other words, their box office haul was double their operating budget for the WORST performing entry into the series. If that’s failure, I wish I was a loser. All told, the first five movies in this reportedly “bad” series grossed nearly $4b while costing WB a little over $1b to make. The first five DCEU movies literally grossed more cumulative than the first five MCU movies and I’m adjusting for inflation. All five entries have good or even excellent RT scores but only if you look at the fan reviews, not the critic reviews. DC fans are the best and most loyal fans in the world and we know what we want, all the uncertainty is coming from junk media. Maybe the people pretending the DCEU is an unmitigated, unqualified disaster should join us here in reality for a fucking change.
