These HarleyxJoker antis and HarleyxIvy stans just don’t get it. Taking away a villain’s obsession is taking away the villain itself. Two-face would just be any old deformed criminal without his obsessive with making everything “fair”. Mad Hatter would’ve just been another bland criminal if it weren’t for his obsession. Scarecrow too if he wasn’t obsessed with fear.
So by taking away Harley’s obsession, The Joker, you’ve just got someone who isn’t Harley at all. Now, I’m not saying that she can’t be with anyone other than Joker. But if she is, she’s still obsessed with him. Obsessing doesn’t always have to be with love. She could be obsessed with wanting to kill him (even though in most of the comics that just comes back to loving). Her obsession is literally part off her character!
Some people just want her to leave Joker and forget all about him, but that’s just OOC. Even if she leaves Joker, even if she pushes him to the back of her mind, he’s still there.
DC should bring Jinx from the old Teen Titans cartoon into comics and make her a original character. Cartoon Jinx and Comic Jinx are very different from each other that they might as well be different characters. They have different personalities. Cartoon Jinx has pink hair and eyes while Comic Jinx doesn’t. Cartoon Jinx is goth, Comic Jinx isn’t goth. Their powers are different. Cartoon Jinx has bad luck powers, she can manipulate probabilities. Comic Jinx has magic powers. Comic Jinx is bald and is Indian. Cartoon Jinx could be Indian too and her meta gene makes her skin white grey-ish and gives her pink eyes and hair. We never got to learn her past in the show so she could still be Indian and we just don’t know. The only thing they have in common is their name Jinx. DC should have them separate characters and bring Cartoon Jinx into the comics. I’m surprised they haven’t brought Cartoon Jinx into comics yet with the Teen Titans cartoon being popular and the show’s version of her being popular. Cartoon Jinx is the most popular and more known version of her. They even used that version of her in the original DC Superhero Girls show. It would be cool to have both versions of Jinx in the comics. They could very easily be separate characters.
The CW DC shows suck at representation. Besides black lightning and John Diggle on Arrow all of the black characters especially the male ones are sidelined or become a magical negro to the white female characters. In the comics Mr.Terrfic (Michael Holt) is the 3rd smartest man in the DC universe, he built his company from the ground up and it rivals Luthor Corp and Wayne Enterprises, on the CW Curtis Holt is Felicity’s Smoaks errand boy. James Olsen on Supergirl is another example and you know what? Most of the actors who played these characters have either left those shows or expressed displeasure with the direction of the characters they are playing. This is not representation, it’s exploitation. Their casting process is lets get a person of color on the show for the diversity hire and then do nothing with said role. The CW is trash.
